I have 10 years’ experience working as a user interface designer and front-end developer in agency, freelance and in-house roles, after graduating from IADT with two degrees.
I love solving complex UX problems with the clearest UI. I frequently attend conferences and participate in local meetups and courses on all aspects of design and technology.
Below is a selection of my independent design work for print and screen. My agency work can be presented at interview.
I have lovingly hand-coded this hypothetical LEGO Summit website in semantic HTML5 & CSS3. It is an entirely fluid responsive layout, tested across modern browsers on a variety of devices.
I’ve chosen a slab serif for headings to reflect building blocks. I developed an animated logo which is a playful version of a summit being built from LEGO. My colour palette is influenced by classic LEGO bricks. To reinforce the theme, I have castellations as section separators at different widths to hint at depth.

Claire Mc Glynn is a fitness and lifestyle professional and a successful olympic weightlifter. Her logo consists of her name and a strong playful icon containing her initials. This logo is white when used over dark backgrounds. A four colour palette was chosen to use across her printed stationery and Wordpress blog website, which is currently in production.
A work-in-progress of an illustrative homage to my local river, showing wildlife and notable landmarks in its path. My colour pallette came from those in the feathers of the mallard. I hope to develop this into a children's orienteering map.
Subtly, the initials of this alternative therapy practice lie in a stylised hand. The hand is forming a mudra; the Buddhist gesture used in meditation and as a symbol for healing. I customised a script typeface for the family name to reflect the personal nature of the business, along with classic Avenir beneath. The colour palette is strong across all printed material.
I’ve used a bokeh cityscape background to add depth and texture to this online women’s shoe store. A kaleidescope of legs reflects a variety customers. For a bit of fun interactivity, when you move the mouse to the right, the legs rotate clockwise, revealing more shoes that were hidden below the product panels. If you move to the left, it would rotate anticlockwise. These shoes could be changed with every season, depending on which product styles are to be showcased, or they could be abstracted to be more timeless. The “Shoes Shoes Shoes” neon sign would flash on and off from top to bottom.
I illustrated the ‘Ladybug’ and ‘Turtle’ mascot characters and designed the packaging and point-of-sale posters for this children’s hi-viz product. I also print-managed the custom die-cut vinyl stickers.
Poster and DVD case for an eerie short film about a stalker. I also filmed, edited and animated this title sequence to my chosen piece of music, a sample of “Smoke & Mirrors”, by RJD2.
For the pro-choice campaign, I illustrated an opening zip on a mouth to reflect inciting discussion on the taboo topic. Graphic and type treatment was applied to a variety of media, i.e. posters, badges, Facebook graphics, etc. This has stood the test of time as it is still in use 5 years later. I have included two alternative unused concepts/proposals. The aim of the domestic violence campaign was to raise awareness and promote the IFPA’s support services. My photograph fulfilled the brief as it’s not too distressing, it steers clear of stereotypes and features no recognisable human features.

Above are two storyboards of my animations in different visual styles. I love to animate in Flash and it is still very much alive, particularly for banner advertising, until there is a more widespread support of HTML5 & CSS3 animation. If your device allows, you will see the actual animations below.
I designed this game in Flash for St Patrick's Day. I created a pixel-art leprechaun character which contrasts with the softer background. Note, Flash will not work on all devices so you may need to use a desktop computer if you wish to play the game.

I constructed the icon from the initials of the company, L&D, and used teardrop embellishments on the corners, which feature in many of the client’s pieces. Futura was the optimum choice of typeface to reflect the geometric style of this stained glass craftsperson.

Design and development, copywriting, photography and ongoing maintenance for the website of the Dublin printing institution. The challenge lay in neatly categorising their constantly evolving services, while also making them all as visible as possible.
I’m pedantic about correct punctuation and made this game as a personal project a few years ago. It uses fun characters and interactive puzzles to teach a daunting topic in an engaging manner. I voiced all the characters myself; adjusting the pitch with audio software. Note, Flash will not work on all devices so you may need to use a desktop computer if you wish to play the game.
